Public Relations Intern
Genuine Article, an independent communications firm, is seeking a public relations intern with outstanding communication, written, organizational, research and problem-solving skills to help tell stories for clients ranging from nonprofits and causes to national retail brands. The ideal candidate is exceedingly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, can juggle multiple projects simultaneously, and has a passion for impact-oriented work on a local and national scale.
Keep a finger on the pulse
Monitor industry and competitor news to share insights with teams in real time; track earned media coverage and conversations about client(s), preparing regular coverage report; research, develop media lists, and build relationships with members of the press or community that will be relevant to a client’s business or future pitch angles.
Tell the story
Draft earned media materials, including pitch letters, press releases, briefing books/backgrounders; conduct research projects; develop materials for owned and shared brand communications, such as native content, social media, partner emails, scripts, and more; coordinate logistics for interviews and assist in managing contact between media outlets and client contacts.
Be the connector
Attend client meetings (in-person and virtually), conference calls, and events; participate in brainstorms for new initiatives, campaigns, or business development, and more; assist with development and maintenance of status reports, recap reports, and agendas; take notes and share comments with team members and account leaders.
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous internship in public relations or marketing-related fields preferred
- Authentic interest in current events, news, and media relations
- Ability to think on feet, work under pressure with strict deadlines and juggle multiple responsibilities or accounts
- Professional and adept, with a fun spirit and can-do/will-do attitude
- Outstanding presentation, communication, and writing skills
- Able to work efficiently independently and closely with team members
- Available to work a 40-hour (full-time) work week (preferred) or 20-hours (part-time) per week
- In-market (DFW) presence required
