Senior Manager
Genuine Article, and independent communications firm, is seeking a proven communicator who helps enhance clients’ public reputation through positive third-party endorsement and conversation. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, thrives in a fast-paced environment, exceedingly organized, can juggle multiple projects simultaneously while working with internal and external team members and clients, and has a passion for impact-oriented work.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Research, rinse, repeat
Support the development and execution of communications plans through oversight of effective research, analysis, insights, strategy definition, development of compelling content, and deployment.
Endear and excel
Serve as first point of contact and provide expert service to clients by developing and maintaining strong relationships. Coordinate and lead client meetings, identifying and ensure all necessary deliverables and deadlines are met.
Tell the story
Develop written materials, which may include PR plans, press releases, media advisories, byline/op-ed articles, award submissions, speeches, social media posts, website content, internal communications, and more.
Chase down the opportunity
Ideate and develop story ideas and topic angles for pitching and pitch media, outlets, influencers and other third parties to attempt to secure earned coverage; source information, interviews, facts and logistics from clients and package appropriately for pitching; seek brand-aligned partners to engage in thought-provoking conversation; monitor media outlets and understand industry-related issues that directly and indirectly affect the client(s).
Seize the opportunity
Respond and engage with multiple constituents in fast-paced media settings including crisis situations, as well as timely moments that extend a brand’s relevance.
Manage relationships
Establish self as first point of contact for internal and external communication related to client(s) business; help build and manage project timelines; develop and maintain project status reports and recaps; develop understanding of client’s and company’s business and financial reporting.
Build the team
Showcase a commitment and dedication to the company’s success as well as individual career growth; act in certain team roles as a supporting team member reporting to a Director and in certain team roles as a supervisor of team members responsible for motivating, coaching, providing feedback and holding team members accountable.
REQUIREMENTS
- Two to four years of communications agency experience (preferred) or related industry experience that provides an understanding of public relations, advertising, marketing, media, creative, digital media, production, research, etc.
- Proven media relations experience, including development of pitches, securing media placements, and established media relationships
- Experience managing projects from inception to production
- Proven leadership experience
- Able to work under pressure, with strict guidelines and within a fast-paced environment
- Outstanding presentation, communication, and writing skills
- Strategic thinker – big and small picture
- Authentic interest in current events and passion for understanding a client’s business
- Professional and adept, with a fun spirit and a can-do/will-do attitude

Associate Director

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Analysis & Insights
- Stay actively apprised of current events, news, technologies, and competitors that impact client(s)
- Support the development of multi-channel (earned media, web, social, email, owned content, paid media) communications plans through conducting or reviewing (staff) research, analyzing data to uncover strategic insights, and proposing insights to senior leadership
- Proactively provide recommendations to senior leadership for necessary data in order to assess account performance
- Lead internal brainstorms to unearth insights and ideas to solve current or potential clients’ problems
- Act as a bridge between strategy and execution, ensuring all work consistently delivers the brand while adhering to outlined goals, objectives, and tactics
Forge Connections
- Liaise between multiple disciplines and agencies; develop relationships to foster an inclusive and integrated team environment
- Serve as day-to-day client and internal contact as the first and last stop for team members to ensure account needs are continuously met
- Lead internal, and potentially external, team meetings; responsible for coordinating associated workflows such as agendas, recaps, and next steps
- Coordinate logistics, for meetings, speaking engagements, events, etc.
- Prepare backgrounders on potential individuals (influencers, speakers, competitors, journalists) or environments (events, conferences, current events) to inform plan development
- Identify third-parties and partners who are well suited to communicate client’s brand messages
Compelling Content
- Draft differentiating and impactful key messages for various target audiences while ensuring cohesive brand expression
- Identify content needs to best share a brand’s story, provide recommendations to senior leadership on suggested outputs
- Build and manage content/project timelines, ensuring all deadlines are met and communicated to the client and internal teams
- Manage content creation from brief development, through production, activation and postproduction optimization reporting; review all content for accuracy, brand consistency, and excellence; with a particular eye to make the work incrementally better
- Ability to write or oversee branded content such as presentations, award submissions, social posts, fact sheets, scripts, web content, and internal communications

- Provide expert customer service to clients, spending time weekly to understand, anticipate, and service needs

REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years communications experience (agency preferred; nonprofit experience is a plus) or related industry experience that provides an understanding of public relations, advertising, marketing, media, creative, digital media, production, research, CRM, etc.
- Experience managing projects from inception to production to optimization with strong attention to detail and mindfulness of deadlines

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Account Management
- Support senior leadership with day-to-day account management efforts
- Schedule internal and external meetings with identified stakeholders
- Draft meeting recap reports and update status reports
- Build and manage project timelines to ensure all deliverables and deadlines are met
- Support senior leadership with management of account budgets and billing process
Analysis & Insights

- Coordinate logistics for speaking engagements, events, media interviews, activations, etc.
- Update news coverage and outcome trackers based on provided direction and timing
Compelling Content
- Showcase an understanding of integrated marketing efforts and extensions in order to provide suggestions on how – and where – best to communicate a client’s story
- Draft content such as presentations, award submissions, social posts, fact sheets, scripts, web content, and internal communications
- Build and manage content production timelines, ensuring all deadlines are met and communicated to the client and internal teams
